Support for international staff

Approximately one-third of new academic staff at UK universities now come from overseas, and the cost to recruit and retain them is significant. The project resulted in a tailored and comprehensive website offering support to assist these staff and their families to settle into the UK and to gain an understanding of teaching and research in higher education. At its peak 34 UK universities subscribed to the International Staff website which became the one-stop shop for academic and personal support for international staff. The site closed in 2013 and some of the materials were transferred to a dedicated site for Leeds staff. One of the resources that remains generally available is The Learning & Teaching ebook which was first published in 2013 and is currently being revised.
